American trucks and muscle cars are a different beast. The tuning protocols, the ECU architecture, the communication methods — they're all different from what we deal with on Australian-delivered and European vehicles.
We're in the process of smoothing out the ability to tune these vehicles properly. We have the tooling, we have the knowledge — what we need is R&D time on real customer vehicles to develop and validate our tuning programs for each platform.
That's where it gets tricky. When it comes to tuning, asking a customer to leave their vehicle with us for R&D isn't always easy — people need their cars. So we're building this program carefully, vehicle by vehicle, as opportunities come up.

GM ECU Security 2017+
From 2017, General Motors substantially increased the security on their vehicle ECUs. This changed the tuning landscape for Chevrolet Silverado and other GM platforms quite dramatically — but tuning is still very much available, even here in Australia.
For pre-2017 vehicles, tuning is straightforward — computer software, the right knowledge, a dyno, and the proper tuning equipment. The ECU can be read and written in-vehicle with no need to remove anything.
For 2017-onwards vehicles, the process is different. The ECU needs to be physically removed from the vehicle and sent off to America, where it is physically modified before being sent back to us so we can then tune the vehicle. This applies to both the 6.6L Duramax and the 6.2L V8 petrol engines.
Because of the ECU removal and international shipping involved, the 2017+ tuning process does take longer than usual and is more expensive — but it can absolutely be done.
