We Service Diesel 4WDs

Diesel 4WDs are the backbone of what we do — it's what rolls through our doors every single day. We service the full spectrum of diesel four-wheel drives, from the legendary Toyota Landcruiser (70, 100, 200 and 300 Series running the 1VD-FTV and 1GD-FTV) through to the Hilux and Prado with the 1KD and 1GD engines.

Ford Rangers and Everest variants — both the older Duratorq and the newer Lion V6 — are a huge part of our workload, along with the Mazda BT-50 and Holden Colorado on the Duramax. We see plenty of Isuzu D-MAX and MU-X (4JJ1 and 4JJ3), Mitsubishi Tritons, and Nissan Navaras and Patrols too.

These vehicles all share common ground — common rail fuel systems, DPFs, EGRs, variable-geometry turbos — and we know them inside out. Whether it's a routine oil and filter service, a major logbook service, or diagnosing a tricky fuel system issue, we have the diagnostic equipment, the genuine and quality aftermarket parts supply, and the experience to get it right the first time.

We Service Petrol 4WDs Too

When people think 4WD, they think diesel — and fair enough, most of them are. But there are plenty of petrol four-wheel drives out there, and they need the same level of care and expertise. From petrol Hiluxes and Rangers through to V8 Nissan Patrols, we service the full range of petrol 4WDs with the same attention to detail we bring to everything else.

The Y62 Nissan Patrol runs the 5.6L VK56 V8 — a seriously capable petrol engine that demands proper servicing. The 2.7L 2TR-FE petrol Hilux (N70 series) is a reliable, no-fuss workhorse that's still going strong in big numbers, and the petrol Prado runs the same proven 2.7L four-cylinder.

Earlier Ford Rangers came with the 2.5L Duratec petrol, the 3.8L V6 Mitsubishi Pajero is a popular family 4WD, and Jeep Wranglers run the 3.6L Pentastar V6. We also look after a handful of loyal customers with turbo petrol Golfs — the 2.0L TSI is a great little engine that rewards proper maintenance — as well as Holden Commodore LSs and HSVs. These are pride-and-joy vehicles for their owners, and we treat them that way. Petrol engines have their own set of service requirements — spark plugs, ignition coils, intake cleaning, and different oil specs — and whatever you're running, we know what these engines need to keep performing at their best.

Frequently Asked Questions

4WD-Specific Maintenance

Items unique to four-wheel drive vehicles that are often overlooked — but critical for off-road reliability and longevity.

Catch Can Emptying & Inspection

Catch cans collect oil blow-by that would otherwise contaminate your intake system. A full catch can needs to be emptied regularly — if it overflows, oil bypasses the can and contaminates the intake manifold. We inspect, empty, and clean catch can systems as part of our 4WD servicing to ensure they're doing their job.

Tailshaft Greasing

Universal joints and slip joints on tailshafts need regular greasing — particularly on 4WDs used off-road or for towing. Un greased unis lead to vibration, premature wear, and eventual failure. We grease all tailshaft grease points as part of our 4WD-specific servicing to keep your driveline reliable.

Steering Stop Touch Points

The steering stops on 4WD vehicles are contact points that limit steering lock — and they need lubrication. Without grease on the steering stops, you get metal-on-metal contact that wears the steering components prematurely. We lubricate steering stop touch points as part of our 4WD-specific servicing.

Off-Road Corrosion Inspection

Off-road vehicles are exposed to water, mud, salt, and abrasive dust — all of which accelerate corrosion. We inspect for major corrosion on chassis, suspension mounts, crossmembers, and underbody components. Catching corrosion early is far cheaper than dealing with structural rust after it takes hold.

Fuel & Air Filter Critical Importance

Fuel and air filters are critical on diesel 4WDs. A blocked air filter restricts airflow and reduces performance. A contaminated fuel filter allows water and particulates through to the high-pressure fuel system — and a single failure there can destroy injectors and pumps costing thousands. We inspect and replace filters on schedule, every time.

Handbrake & Drum Adjustment

Many diesel 4WDs still use drum-style handbrake systems — and these need regular adjustment. As the shoes wear, the handbrake travel increases and eventually won't hold the vehicle. We adjust handbrake shoes and drums as part of our 4WD servicing to ensure your handbrake works when you need it, particularly when parked on a grade with a load.
