Which Prado engine is better to tune?

The 1GD-FTV (2015+) has more headroom and responds better to remapping. The older 1KD-FTV still tunes well but is limited by its older ECU architecture. Both are worth tuning for improved driveability and towing.

Is the Prado good for towing after a tune?

Yes — the additional mid-range torque makes a significant difference when towing caravans or trailers. The Prado is already a capable tow vehicle; a quality remap takes it to another level.

Can you tune a Prado with a DPF?

Yes. We tune Prado vehicles while retaining all factory emissions equipment. Our tunes are designed to work correctly with the DPF and EGR intact.

What other mods should I consider with a Prado tune?

A catch can is always our first recommendation. An intercooler and exhaust are excellent next steps that push performance closer to the top of the available range.
