Landcruiser 70 Series 2024+ 2.8L Diesel Tuning

How Does the 70 Series 1GD-FTV Perform After Tuning?
1GD-FTV 2.8L 4-Cylinder Turbo Diesel
Our 70 Series 2024+ tuning program delivers real, measurable results — not just claimed numbers. Every tune is validated on our in-house dyno to ensure safe, repeatable power gains that you can feel on the road and towing heavy loads.
The 1GD-FTV 2.8L is the engine Toyota chose to replace the legendary V8 in the 70 Series. While it's a different character of engine, it responds well to remapping — Toyota left meaningful headroom in the factory calibration. We unlock that potential while maintaining the reliability and durability this platform needs to deliver.

The New Generation 70 Series
In 2024, Toyota retired the legendary 1VD-FTV 4.5L V8 from the 70 Series and replaced it with the 1GD-FTV 2.8L four-cylinder turbo diesel — the same engine family found in the current Hilux and Prado. It's a different character of engine: smaller displacement, lighter, more modern injection technology, and auto-only transmission.
At Stealth Installs, we've been working with the 1GD-FTV since it appeared in the Hilux and Prado, so when it landed in the 70 Series we were already ahead of the curve. We understand the transmission cooling requirements, the intake limitations, and how to get the best out of this engine in a heavy 70 Series chassis. This isn't a learning exercise for us — it's a platform we know well.

What We Do for Your 70 Series
Every modification is chosen and tuned specifically for the 1GD-FTV 2.8L platform.
ECU Remapping
The 2.8L 1GD-FTV has plenty of headroom left by Toyota. Our custom tune extracts significantly more power and torque while improving throttle response and fuel economy under light loads.
Transmission Coolers
The 2024+ 70 Series is auto-only, and the 6-speed transmission works hard under load — especially towing. A quality transmission cooler is essential to keep fluid temps in check and protect the box from heat-related failure.
Intercooler Upgrades
The factory intercooler can become a heat-soak limitation at higher power levels or during sustained towing. An upgraded intercooler keeps intake temps down for reliable, consistent power delivery.
Catch Cans
The 1GD-FTV benefits greatly from a quality catch can to prevent oil vapour recirculating through the intake. We fit HPD catch cans — their design avoids introducing additional crankcase pressure, a common problem with lesser brands.
Exhaust Systems
A free-flowing exhaust reduces backpressure on the single turbo setup, helping spool and improving overall efficiency. Off-road DPF options available for compliant performance upgrades.
Suspension & Accessories
Load-rated suspension solutions for work, touring, and off-road use. Bull bars, side steps, snorkels, auxiliary lighting, drawer systems, and dual battery setups — we build complete 70 Series touring vehicles.
