Can the Silverado Be Tuned in Adelaide?

6.6L Duramax V8 (L5P) & 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 (L87)

The Australian-delivered Chevrolet Silverado comes in two engine configurations — the 6.6L Duramax V8 turbo diesel (L5P) and the 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 petrol (L87). Both are platforms we're actively building expertise on.

The 6.2L V8 petrol is not completely foreign territory for us — we have solid familiarity with Chevrolet's V8 petrol from Australian GM products and the Camaro platform. The 6.6L Duramax V8 diesel is a different beast — a big, sophisticated diesel engine that we're very keen to get across. We're developing calibration knowledge and would rather invest the time to do it properly than rush in.

Important note for 2017-onwards vehicles: General Motors substantially increased the security on their vehicle ECUs from 2017. Tuning is still available, but the process is different — the ECU needs to be physically removed from the vehicle and sent to America to be physically modified, then sent back before we can tune it. This applies to both the 6.6L Duramax and the 6.2L V8 petrol. It takes longer and costs more, but it can be done. Pre-2017 vehicles use the standard process — computer software, knowledge, a dyno and the right tuning equipment, all done in-vehicle.

What We Do for Your Silverado

Where we're at with both the 6.6L Duramax V8 diesel and 6.2L V8 petrol.

Building Our Knowledge

Both the 6.6L Duramax V8 diesel and 6.2L V8 petrol are platforms we're actively wrapping our heads around. We're developing the calibration knowledge and service pathways to support Silverado owners properly.

2017+ ECU Security

From 2017, GM substantially increased ECU security. Tuning is still available but the ECU must be physically removed and sent to America to be modified before we can tune it — this applies to both the 6.6L and 6.2L. It takes longer and costs more, but it can be done. Pre-2017 vehicles use the standard in-vehicle tuning process.

6.6L Duramax V8 Diesel

The L5P Duramax is a serious V8 diesel — very different to the inline-4 and inline-6 diesels we tune daily. We're developing ECU remapping knowledge for this engine to unlock its full potential.

6.2L V8 Petrol

The 6.2L EcoTec3 isn't completely foreign to us — we're well familiar with Chevrolet's V8 petrol from Australian GM products and the Camaro. This gives us a solid foundation for performance and servicing work.
